I have been falling asleep very easily for years now. I relax immediately and fall asleep almost immediately - dream lucid and so on ... But that doesn't mean I never have sleepless nights. Especially when after drinking too much caffeine I cannot fall asleep immediately because my head and body remain active - the thoughts jump from hort to here and so on. I discovered falling asleep with the Alphabet a few years ago - I call it the alphabet dreaming method. Since these discoveries, this form of relaxing sleep - after drinking too much coffee - has been number 1 of my favorite sleeping methods.

The alphabet dreaming method.
Step 1 Go to sleep relaxed, clear your mind (if only for a minute)
Step 2 Think of the alphabet and choose 1 letter from it
Step 3 Then you will come up with words that start with the letter you have chosen
Step 4 ... A ... Anvil, Attention, Attachment, Other .... and so on
Step 5.. You can no longer think of A ... words then continue with the letter B (Your personal choice, so if you want to start with Z that's fine too).
Step 6 Eventually you relax and you start making mistakes with words and you let go and fall asleep relaxed.
The alphabet dream method causes your train of thought to shift - you force yourself to think differently - you have to think of words to complete your alphabet. So you no longer think about your daily worries, stress and so on, but instead focus on words that start with an F. Sleep paralysis
The difference with other methods is that counting sheep, for example, does not cause your focus to shift to, but simply goes on automatic pilot. We can all count; it's too easy. Thinking up words is a challenge take it from me; that it will be successful well falling asleep!.
